August 2026 | Top Short Drama Apps by Downloads & Revenue

Insightrackr reviewed global mobile market data for short drama apps in August 2026, ranking apps by estimated downloads and estimated total revenue.

The download ranking is based on Insightrackr’s estimated app downloads, while the revenue ranking reflects estimated total revenue, including both IAP and IAA. Beyond the Top 15 charts, this report also looks at selected apps’ UA activity, including ad volume trends, channel mix, market distribution, and creative strategy.

Apps selected for deeper UA analysis this month: DramaWave, VibeShort, and Coin Drama.

Top 15 Short Drama Apps by Downloads

DramaWave, ReelShort, and NetShort led the download ranking, while Coin Drama and StoryReel recorded some of the strongest gains.

DramaWave climbed two spots to No. 1, with estimated downloads up 48.2% MoM. ReelShort held No. 2 with 2.61% growth, while DramaBox rose one spot to No. 4 after growing 6.51%. NetShort moved in the opposite direction, falling two spots to No. 3 after a 1.60% decline.

In the middle of the chart, StoryReel moved up two spots to No. 7 with downloads up 60.25%, while Coin Drama posted the largest ranking gain, jumping 20 spots to No. 9 after a 236.35% increase in downloads.

By contrast, DramaReels, Rigi TV, and Kuku TV fell two, four, and three spots to Nos. 8, 12, and 13, respectively, with corresponding download declines of 24.92%, 20.14%, and 24.03%. FlickReels, however, rose two spots to No. 15 with 20.6% growth.

Top 15 Global Short Drama Apps by Revenue

Revenue remained more concentrated at the top. The top three all posted double-digit MoM growth: DramaBox held No. 1 with revenue up 28.83%, while NetShort and DramaWave climbed one and two spots to Nos. 2 and 3, growing 24.29% and 44.29%, respectively.

ReelShort and DramaReels fell two and one spots to Nos. 4 and 5, respectively, but revenue rose 7.46% for the former and fell 21.02% for the latter. GoodShort's download and revenue trends diverged: it rose one spot to No. 6 with revenue up 8.57%, even as downloads fell 14.92%.

Growth was stronger further down the chart. VibeShort rose two spots to No. 11 as revenue grew 62.37%, while MoboReels and iDrama each climbed four spots to Nos. 13 and 15, with respective revenue growth of 69.11% and 35.75%.

Top Short Drama App UA Strategy Analysis

01 DramaWave

DramaWave ranked No. 1 in downloads and No. 3 in revenue. Both metrics increased by more than 40% MoM, making it one of the few leading apps to achieve substantial growth across both rankings.

Its active creative volume stayed high from mid-July, dipping briefly from August 4 to 7 before recovering after August 8. Volume exceeded 12,000 several times in the second half of the month and approached 14,000 by month-end, while new creatives were added throughout, with peaks in mid- and late August. This pattern indicates a mature UA operation built around continuous creative refreshes and periodic scaling.

Facebook was central to DramaWave's broader ad activity. Once ad library data was excluded, AdMob dominated tracked ad traffic at 95.58%.

Its geographic footprint varied by funnel stage: ad delivery focused on the United States, Germany, and France, while Brazil, Mexico, and Indonesia led downloads. Revenue was led by the United States at 11.02%, with Italy and South Korea next.

Having appeared in several previous Insightrackr short drama rankings, DramaWave was highlighted in December 2025 for its use of AI-generated opening hooks with in-app footage and voice-over. (Click to Read)

In August, DramaWave's creatives showed a broader use of AI-generated content.

One ad used AI comic drama visuals with a dark fantasy setting, ending with Korean-language copy and the DramaWave app page. Another used an AI-generated live-action clip titled The Rise of the Lycan Queen, combining werewolf, queen, and revenge themes with an injured heroine to create immediate crisis and suspense. Both centered on short drama clips using either animated world-building or live-action emotional conflict.

02 VibeShort

Published by AGILE QUADRANT MEDIA LIMITED, VibeShort ranked No. 11 in revenue after growing 62.37% MoM.

Its active creative volume remained below 100 on most days from mid-July through early August. Volume began rising consistently after August 14 and exceeded 700 for the first time on August 18. After a brief dip, it returned above 700 and ended the month at approximately 750, suggesting a transition from low-volume testing to staged scaling.

After excluding ad library data, Meta Audience Network dominated VibeShort's tracked ad traffic at 79.79%, with AdMob serving as a secondary channel at 20.21%.

Geographically, the United States led VibeShort's ad delivery, downloads, and revenue, accounting for 4.87%, 17.86%, and 22.26%, respectively. It was followed by the United Kingdom and Canada in ad delivery, Brazil and India in downloads, and the United Kingdom and Mexico in revenue.

VibeShort's creatives displayed the visual characteristics of AI-generated live-action drama, but took the form of longer, more complete narrative segments rather than short teaser-style clips.

One ad, titled My Groom Chose My Best Friend, used a wedding betrayal and love triangle to create immediate conflict. Another centered on emotional pain in a relationship, reinforced by the German subtitle "Tränen liefen über meine Wangen", which means "Tears ran down my cheeks".

03 Coin Drama

Coin Drama, published by Tera Link, jumped 20 spots to No. 9 in downloads, with estimated downloads increasing 236.35% MoM.

Its active creative volume was generally under 100 through early August before rising from mid-month. It passed 300 on August 18, remained between 300 and 400, and peaked on August 25, alongside several spikes in new creatives. This pattern reflects a more intensive creative rollout.

After excluding ad library data, Coin Drama’s tracked ad traffic was spread relatively evenly across three core networks, with Pangle contributing 30.45%, Mintegral 26.89%, and Meta Audience Network 25.95%.

Geographically, Indonesia was Coin Drama's largest market for both downloads and revenue, accounting for 25.71% and 24.07%, respectively. Vietnam was another key market, leading ad delivery at 24.39% and ranking second in revenue at 13.45%.

Coin Drama's creative approach centered on AI-generated video ads rather than clips from AI-generated short dramas.

One ad built a simple narrative around an everyday interaction between an older and a younger woman. Another used the Turkish question “Döner Sırasında Gerginlik mi?” meaning “Feeling tense while waiting for döner?” as a lighthearted hook, then introduced the Coin Drama icon and the CTA “Coin Drama ile Gülmeğe!” meaning “Laugh with Coin Drama!” Both 39-second ads wove the product into the story rather than reserving it for the end.

August's short drama rankings showed a stable top tier alongside notable movement among mid-tier apps. DramaWave reached No. 1 in downloads and No. 3 in revenue, growing more than 40% on both metrics. Coin Drama jumped 20 spots to No. 9 in downloads, while VibeShort rose to No. 11 in revenue. Revenue remained concentrated among leading apps, while AI creatives, regional ad delivery, and staged scaling supported gains further down the rankings.
