Insightrackr reviewed global mobile market data for short drama apps in July 2026, ranking apps by estimated downloads and estimated total revenue.

The download ranking is based on Insightrackr’s estimated app downloads, while the revenue ranking reflects estimated total revenue, including both IAP and IAA. Beyond the Top 15 charts, this report also looks at selected apps’ UA activity, including ad volume trends, channel mix, market distribution, and creative strategy.

Apps selected for deeper UA analysis this month: StoryReel, BonusTV Pro, and ReelShort.

The stronger signal came from the middle of the chart. StoryReel climbed 13 spots to No. 9, with downloads up 218.35%. BonusTV Pro rose 23 spots to No. 13, growing 344.16%. Both apps show that short drama rankings can still shift quickly when campaign timing and creative supply align.

Other products faced pressure. PineDrama ranked No. 4 but saw downloads decline 6.53%. DramaReels and Melolo each dropped two positions, while Dot Drama and Kuku TV fell 24.43% and 14.11%, respectively.

Overall, July suggests that leading short drama apps have stronger monetization defenses, but selected challengers can still improve revenue when acquisition, content, and conversion work together.

Top Short Drama App UA Strategy Analysis

01 StoryReel: Exclusive Drama

StoryReel was one of July's fastest climbers, ranking No. 9 in downloads after a 218.35% month-over-month increase.

Its ad activity stayed active from mid-June through late July, with larger delivery spikes around July 21 and July 29. New creative volume rose around the same periods, suggesting that growth was tied to short-cycle creative refreshes and staged scaling.

StoryReel ad, download & revenue trends

StoryReel's traffic was highly concentrated. After excluding database traffic, AdMob accounted for 99.99% of observed traffic. This narrow channel structure can be risky, but it also allows fast scaling when the audience and creative fit are working.

Market data showed a clear split. Creative delivery focused on the U.S., the U.K., and Australia. Downloads came mainly from the U.S., Mexico, and Colombia, while revenue was led by the U.S., Mexico, and the U.K. The U.S. played both scale and revenue roles, while Latin America contributed meaningful download volume.

Creatively, StoryReel leaned on family conflict and identity tension. Its ads used direct emotional moments, such as confrontation scenes and lines like "mom don't go," to create immediate curiosity. The formula is simple: introduce a relationship, create uncertainty, and push viewers to open the app for resolution.

02 BonusTV Pro

BonusTV Pro climbed 23 spots to No. 13 in downloads, with estimated downloads up 344.16%.

Its UA pattern was more burst-driven. After a small lift in late June and a quieter early July, ad volume rose quickly in mid-July and stayed high through the end of the month. After July 25, both total delivery and new creative volume reached clear peaks.

BonusTV Pro ad, download & revenue trends

The app relied mainly on Meta Audience Network, which accounted for 87.24% of observed traffic. Pangle contributed 12.76%. This shows a concentrated buying strategy built around a small number of core channels.

Its market structure also split scale from monetization. Downloads were led by the Philippines, Indonesia, and Brazil, while revenue was led by the U.S.

BonusTV Pro's creatives combined emotional conflict with direct product value. One ad used a rescue scene and the line "Don't worry, I'll save you." Another highlighted free viewing and full plot access. This approach connects story interest with a clear reason to download.

03 ReelShort - Stream Drama & TV

ReelShort ranked No. 2 on both the download and revenue charts, making it one of the clearest examples of scale plus monetization.

Its active creative volume stayed high during the monitoring period, usually between roughly 2,300 and 3,000 active creatives. New creative volume was lower than the total active pool, but continued to spike periodically. This looks like a mature UA rhythm: keep a large creative pool live, refresh often, and fight creative fatigue with steady iteration.

ReelShort ad, download & revenue trends

ReelShort also had a more diversified channel mix. After excluding database traffic, AdMob accounted for 62.77%, Meta Audience Network for 12.48%, and AppLovin for 10.26%.

Geographically, ad delivery focused on the U.S., Germany, and the U.K., while downloads came mainly from Brazil, Mexico, and Indonesia. This again reflects a common short drama pattern: Latin America and Southeast Asia drive scale, while Europe and North America carry more revenue value.

Creatively, ReelShort used high-concept hooks and character dilemmas. One Spanish-language ad led with a fantasy workplace premise, "El CEO con vision de rayos X," alongside free and limited-time viewing cues. Another used a hospital scene and character emotion to suggest an immediate plot turn. ReelShort also kept its brand visible while adapting language and story framing across markets.

July's rankings point to a short drama market that is maturing, but not closed. Top apps are better positioned to defend revenue because they have larger user bases, stronger content supply, and more developed monetization systems.

At the same time, StoryReel and BonusTV Pro show that ranking gains are still possible. The opportunity is about operating better: refresh creatives quickly, choose channels with clear intent, separate scale markets from monetization markets, and match story hooks to local audiences.
